SeaKeepers

While in Langkawi we had a visit from a researcher from the University of Malaysia
who are looking at the amount of micro plastic at different depths of water and its
effect on plankton with SeaKeepers who are utilizing private boaters to do water sampling.
Noelle volunteered Illimite' to help out.  The researcher gave us and collection net
and specimen jars and preservative as well as training
We do a collection at the surface as well as 5 meters off the bottom every 45
nautical miles as we  go down the Strait of Malaka.
Here Noelle is getting ready to lower the collection net

After the collection, we open a valve at the bottom of the net and let the
gathered plankton run into a collection jar

A nice collection of zoo plankton, phytoplankton and hopefully not too much micro plastic
