4th Anniversary on Illimite'

These first four years have  flown by, or maybe sailed by!

This last year has been mostly spent in SE Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand)

Our plan is to head back east to the Raja Ampat area of Indonesia next to New Guinea

for what is supposed to be the best diving in the world !! To get to Raja Ampat though we are going to round the NE tip of Borneo which is next to the southern Philippines which has currently the worst piracy in the world.  Because of that we have joined a rally of about 30 boats that will have Malaysian military escort for the risky area.  The map below shows the last years travels in purple and the beginning of year 5 in red as well as the piracy area

We were then going to work our way to Bali and off to South Africa.  That would entail another year in SE Asia with is mid 90 degree temperatures which we are both tired of.  So we are thinking about cooling off and heading to Alaska via Japan.  We can't do that directly from Raja Ampat because it would be into the wind so we are planning to go along the north coast of New Guinea to New Ireland and then head north to Truk Lagoon, Guam, Saipan, Japan then Alaska.  The below map has years 1-4 in purple then years 5 and 6.  This will take us back into French Polynesia and then continue on to Africa eventually to complete the circumnavigation.  Of course I am sure these plans will change as always
