Before leaving our last anchorage in Karakit, Mark on Field Trip
got a great shot of all the boats with his drone ( I need one ! )
The arrow points at Illimite'
We had a stop at "Turtle Island". They have up to 50 turtles a
night laying eggs. We got to help release some hatchlings into the sea
at night so no photos except another great drone shot by Mark of the island
(Did I mention I need one of those)
But I was able to get a good photo of some of Noelle's
awesome breadfruit fried in coconut oil
While in Sandakan we went to a Sun Bear Sanctuary.
The sun bear is a small endangered bear endemic to Borneo
and at the Sanctuary we happened upon a cute little deadly
Borneal Keeled Pit Viper. It is not endangered. Just whomever it meets!
Then got to visit a POW camp where the Japanese starved, worked, shot and
beat to death every prisoner except for 6 that escaped of the several thousand imprisoned
A nice uplifting ending for the day
