While anchored in the Lembeh Strait we went ashore an hired a car
to take us to a park where several endangered endemic species live.
One is the couscous. A tree dwelling marsupial
We went with our friends from SV FIELD TRIP. After a long hike we
sat on a log for a while waiting on a male knobbed hornbill to return to his
nest where the female and fledgling is holed up waiting to be fed
(probably watching soap operas all day)
The male dutifully arrived bringing food to his mate
But what we really came to see was the nocturnal Tarsier
It is a little primate considered to be older than monkeys, a pre primate
Named tarsier because it has a long tarsal bone
Getting up before sunset can make a guy tired
Taking a break on the long walk back
