Chuuk (Truk) Lagoon

As you may be aware back in 1944 a flock of carrier based planes
caught the Japanese by surprise with their ships at anchor in what was then
Truk Lagoon.  Now Chuuk.  There are over 60 ships sitting around on the bottom

Noelle wanted to celebrate the event with  a glass of sake

Chuuk Lagoon is a popular dive destination.
But because of the coronavirus the dive hotel was almost vacant
We did 4 dives with the dive operators as you are not allowed to dive on your own.
Last month a diver died.  We got so deep inside a couple ships I could see
how that could happen if you panicked
It was nice as it was just the two of us and the dive guide

This jap zero isn't going anywhere

Sending some messages with the bow telegraph

Wait a minute how did everyone get out there and I'm still in here!!

Notice his palate in upper right

The following is a short dive video

Photos were hard to get as it was pitch black in some areas of the
ships when you go in deep.  Kinda spooky!

Off to Guam for some repairs and supplies
