Passage to Kodiak

After leaving Kauai we had a brisk sail over to Niihau.  Can't go ashore at Niihau as its privately owned but was supposed to be some good diving at a little islet off Niihau

Our anchorage there was pretty rocky, like most all Hawaii anchorages but was
able to spend a little time getting Illimite's bottom ready for the passage
We ended up not diving as it was too rough to moor the boat at the dive area

I recently had my Watts&Sea hydrogenerator serviced and replaced the regulator
and it is working better than ever.  But its still a challenge to keep it in the water
Here I am replacing the line that holds it down after it chaffed through for the 3rd time
during this passage.  Have to wait for a calm period to work on the platform!
With the water at 47 degrees you don't last long if you fall in

Also discovered a worn through area on top of the Bimini
So cut a patch from the scraps of the old Bimini that I had saved
and sewed a patch on, again taking advantage of a calm day

Finally after about 2300 nm and just under 21 days sighted Kodiak!
Did not get hit with even 1 gale (had 4 last year)
Did have a couple systems with 30-33 kt winds but nothing gale force

Made it to the dock in time to go ashore for dinner

Looking forward to exploring Alaska again
